Jersey tiers
Understanding NBA Jersey Tiers
Navigating jersey tiers can be confusing, especially with different eras and manufacturers (Nike, Adidas, Reebok). Jerseys generally fall into three main tiers: Replica (Fast Break), Swingman, and Authentic.
Understanding the differences between the top two tiers—Swingman and Authentic—will help you choose the right piece for your style, fit, and budget.
1. The Swingman Jersey (The Everyday Fan Favorite)
Swingman jerseys are designed specifically for fans. They strike the ideal balance between high-end aesthetic appeal, day-to-day comfort, and long-term durability.
Materials: Constructed from standard mid-weight, moisture-wicking polyester mesh. The material is slightly thicker than authentic on-court gear, making it much more durable for daily casual wear, concerts, or game days.
Graphics & Lettering: Modern Nike Swingmans feature heat-applied twill or rubberized graphics that lie flat. Older Nike, Adidas andReebok Swingmans often feature stitched tackle twill.
Fit: Features a relaxed, traditional athletic fit. They offer comfortable room in the shoulders and chest, making them easy to layer over t-shirts or hoodies.
2. The Authentic Jersey (The On-Court Original)
Authentic jerseys are exact, one-to-one recreations of what the players actually wear on the court. Every material, seam, and stitch is engineered for top-tier athletic performance.
Materials: Made with ultra-lightweight, high-performance breathable fabrics (like Nike's Dri-FIT ADV or AeroSwift mesh). The fabric is noticeably lighter, stretchier, and features engineered ventilation zones.
Graphics & Lettering: Features premium multi-layer stitched twill or flexible heat-bonded badging, applied identically to pro-grade specifications. Embroidered logos, metallic details, and reinforced side vents are standard.
Fit: Designed for professional athletes, featuring a slim, tapered, athletic fit that hugs the body.
Pricing
How We Price Our Jerseys
Every vintage and pre-loved jersey on our site is individually inspected and priced based on three simple factors:
1. Jersey Tier
Swingman: The standard fan favorite made with mid-weight mesh and durable graphics (Mid-range).
Authentic: Pro-grade, stitched on-court jerseys built to exact player specifications (Premium).
2. Condition Grade
Excellent : Near-pristine condition.
Very Good: Minor, light signs of age.
Good: Visible wear like light cracking or fabric pulls.
Fair: Heavily worn or distressed vintage patina .
3. Rarity & Demand
Rare vintage eras (90s/00s), legend players (Kobe, Jordan, LeBron), short-run colorways, and retired "City Edition" designs carry higher collector value due to scarcity.
Because vintage athletic apparel is pre-loved and often decades old, every piece in our store comes with unique character and varying degrees of historical wear. By placing an order, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms regarding item condition, grading, and post-purchase care:
1. Condition Grading & Natural Aging
All vintage items are evaluated prior to listing and assigned a condition grade. Due to the inherent nature of vintage fabrics, screen-printed inks, and heat-applied graphics, items may exhibit minor natural aging that does not constitute a defect, including:
Minor Fraying or Thread Pulls: Occasional loose stitching on embroidered borders or hem lines.
Screen-Print Micro-Cracking: Light surface cracking on older, plastic-based screen-printed graphics (common on 1990s Champion, Reebok, or Starter pieces).
Fabric Softness: Normal wear-and-tear softening, mild surface pilling, or slight fading consistent with the age of the garment.
2. Printed Twill & Vintage Graphics Notice
Some vintage pieces (such as older Soul Swingman or replica jerseys) feature screen-printed twill patches—where color layers are applied over a woven patch base.
Inherent Fragility: Over time, these printed layers naturally become dry and brittle.
Visual Representation: We make every effort to display high-resolution photos and detailed descriptions of all existing cracking, flaking, or wear in the product listing. Please review all photos carefully before completing your purchase.
3. Customer Washing & Care Disclaimer
Once an item is delivered and washed by the customer, we are no longer responsible for any wear, peeling, flaking, or damage that occurs during the laundering process.
Follow Care Instructions: Customers must strictly follow the care guidelines outlined on our [Aftercare Page].
Hand Wash Recommended for Fragile Pieces: Vintage screen-printed, printed-twill, or aged heat-pressed items must be hand-washed only in cold water and air-dried. Standard washing machine cycles (even gentle cycles) can shatter brittle vintage inks or loosen aging adhesives.
No Laundry Warranty: Damage resulting from machine washing, heated drying, hot water, or use of fabric softeners will void any eligible return, refund, or exchange request.
